Night Watch is inspired by the words of Psalm 139:12, “Even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.”
As I rock my girls to sleep, I often find myself praying—praying for my girls, my community, reflections from my day. I know I’m not alone in this. I know many mothers spend their light night with their children in similar ways. This piece grew out of my reflections on the words of Psalm 139:12 and this picture of mothers around the world spending the dark of night together in prayer, their own little night watch.
